2018 Chevy Traverse Redesign, MPG

Since its inception in 2008, Chevrolet has rolled out a fair share of crossovers of its Traverse SUVs. Recently, a new one has been photographed testing under covers. This may very well be General Motor’s new 2018 Chevy Traverse. Speculations are being made that the car will make its appearance in this year’s 2016 Los Angeles auto show. If not, expect it to debut at the 2017 Detroit auto show scheduled to be held early next year. The base price of Traverse is set to range around $30,000.

2018 Chevy Traverse – Platform

The previous versions of Traverse along with its siblings, Acadia and Buick Enclave, were built on GM Lambda platform. The Chevy Traverse 2018 will make a transition and will ride on a new platform, GM C1. The latest model of Acadia lost some weight. Expect Traverse to follow the same lines when compared its predecessors with its new platform.

2018 Chevy Traverse – Redesign External and Internal

Chevy Traverse 2018 is 700 lbs lighter and 7 inches shorter than its previous models. Reduced dimensions offer to sit only for seven passengers instead of eight. However, compromise on a number of seats has enhanced the car’s interior cabin space, allowing more room for head, leg, and cargo area. Two exhaust tips will be visible on two sides below the rear bumper.

This crossover will offer three-row seating. The car was seen testing its motors well-camouflaged. Hence details about external looks cannot be put down with certainty. The car was seen to have a longer wheelbase than Acadia and may look similar in few aspects.

Few predictions can be made based on its former models. 2018 Traverse may come with 17-inch to 20-inch painted aluminum wheels with optional roof rails. The rear gate can be operated both manually or electronically to access the cargo hold. An optional panoramic sunroof may also be offered.

Chevrolet will pack its new SUV with its own StabiliTrak technology. This stability control system will assist the driver in controlling the vehicle during sudden maneuvers, especially in slippery conditions or during emergency lane changes.

The car will also come with rear view cameras with rear view assist system, remote vehicle start features, and 4-wheel antilock disc brakes.

2018 Chevy Traverse – Powertrain and Mileage

Chevy’s Acadia houses a 2.5-liter4-cylinder engine. Considering Traverse is bulkier than Acadia, it will receive a higher version. 2018 Chevy Traverse should come with a V-6 3.6-liter engine capable of delivering 310 hp of power.

The SUV may feature a 6-speed automatic transmission system. However, a 9-speed automatic transmission system is under production and may find its way in the 2018 Traverse.Base models will have front-wheel drive feature. Option for all-wheel drive will be marketed as well.

The 2017  Chevrolet Traverse gave a fuel efficiency of 15 mpg in city and 22 mpg on the highway. 2018 model has shed weight owing to its aluminum-intensive C1 frame. Hence, an improved mileage is on offer.

2018 Chevy Traverse – Price, Release Date, and Competition

The GMC Acadia will go on sale at around $29,995. Hyundai Santa Fe costs around $31,695. With price tags in similar ranges, 2018 Chevy Traverse is expected to receive strong competition from these two SUVs. Ford Explore, Mazda CX-9, and Nissan Pathfinder are also in line.
