MG Motor is best known for its British Touring Cars. Their latest model, MG GS SUV is the first SUV manufactured by MG Motor. The previous cars manufactured and released by MG are MG 6 hatchback in April 2009 and MG 3 in 2010. Both models got good reviews and were sold in UK and China. The manufacturing unit of MG Motors UK is in China as well as Birmingham, London. The SUV MG GS is already on sale in Chinese market.

MG GS SUV – Specifications

MG GS selling in China has a 2.0 litre direct injection petrol engine providing the power od 217 hp. The vehicle is 4,500 mm long with a height of 1,675 mm. It gives the look of a compact SUV at 1,675 mm width. The speculation is that before releasing it in UK, the existing petrol engine will be replaced by a smaller, 1.5 litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 168 hp and 184 lb ft. of torque that is more suitable for UK roads. MG Motor is also planning to introduce a diesel version in UK. It will be similar to the diesel engine offered in other MG cars, a 1.9 litre four-cylinder unit that delivers 148 hp and 258 lb ft. of torque. MG GS SUV provides its drivers the option to choose between two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive as desired.

MG GS SUV – Exteriors and Interior Design

The style of MG GS SUV is an evolved design compared to MG 6 and MG 3. It showcases swept-back trapezoidal headlights, with a slim grille running across the width of the car and the classic MG badge in the middle. LED daylights are shaped like upward facing hockey sticks, an innovative design change from the previous models. The rear of the car is nothing like the previous models and the design team in Birmingham, London has completely changes the look with angled tailgate, structured planks and blacked-out pillars. The MG GS SUV styling boss Anthony Williams-Kenny says, the world is changing quickly in terms of what we expect from a product, so our goal is to bring the most up-to-date design trends to our own.

The most obvious feature that a driver or passenger expects from any car interiors is plenty of leg room and headroom. MG GS SUV is designed articulately to provide spacious headroom and leg room for the front passengers even though it flaunts a panoramic glass roof. Even the rear seat passengers have a lot of room and the luxury to adjust their seats front and back with reclining backs. The storage of the car is adequate if not abundant. The dashboard is styled with a range of trim colors and elegant finish with a high gloss piano black trim. The middle console is designed neatly with chunky buttons to perform various functions. There are centrally mounted screens with touchscreen or traditional button console.

MG GS SUV – Release Date and Price

The best part of MG SUV is that it is priced at only 15,000 Pounds ($22,000) and will be one of the cheapest cars of its kind in the UK. It will be released in the UK market in June 2016. Before the release of the car in the UK, there will be a grand public debut in London Motor Show in March.
