The Mercedes-Benz GLA was the first crossover SUV made Mercedes Benz. It was introduced in 2013. The 2017 Mercedes GLA has undergone a considerable amount of modification on the outside to make it look less than an ordinary sedan or oversized hatchback. The car looks stylish like all Mercedes-Benz cars are built to look but it looks impressively powerful and slightly aggressive for a mod-sized SUV. There are a few modifications that Mercedes made to get the car looking as it should. For instance: the grille and headlamps were revised, raised made to look bolder as those of the modern day crossover SUVS on the market. The lighting technology also enhances the aggressive look that the car has. The back, on the other hand, looks sharper with reshaped taillights and brake lights. The tail end has a chrome-plated rectangular exhaust pipe and next to it, a titanium trimmed diffuser.

The interior is what most people can’t wait to see, that and how the car handles on the road. As far as the interior goes the cabin is generously spaced with leather-upholstered seats. Everything inside the cabin is made of or covered in sophisticated, quality, well-made materials. The dashboard has an impressive array of state of the art systems like a 7-inch touchscreen display that shows one of the best navigation systems. There are Bluetooth connectivity and multimedia options that range from MP3 and iPod interfaces.

The 2017 Mercedes GLA has an array of safety features like lane departure warning systems, ABS, blind spot assist, an 180-degree rear camera, driver fatigue detection, stability control and adaptive cruise control.

2017 Mercedes GLA – Engine Design and Performance

There aren’t a lot of changes expected in the drive train of the new 2017 Mercedes GLA. There are two drivetrain options for the American car market. The first one is a 2.0-liter turbocharged, 4-cylinder engine capable of producing 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be coupled to a 7-speed automatic transmission. The other option is a 2.0 turbocharged inline-4 engine with the capacity to produce 355 hp and 332 lb-ft. This engine will be mated to a 7 -speed AMG DCT transmission.

Both engines perform superbly and they have a decent fuel efficiency rating. The consumption of fuel is estimated to be 22 mpg in city driving and 35 mpg on the highway.

2017 Mercedes GLA – Release Date and Price

The release of the 2017 Mercedes GLA is expected in the middle of 2017. The first markets will, of course, be Germany and other European countries but the other markets can expect to see this new car towards the end of 2017. The base model is slated to cost $33,500 but the price can go up to $50,000 with the addition of non-standard features.
