Suzuki has been showing off its new car models at every car show from Geneva to Tokyo. They seem to be particularly fond of the iM-4 Compact SUV which to date has garnered rave reviews. We see Suzuki returning to compact but high performance cars. At first glance the iM-4 does not look like it should be paired with SUV but looks are deceiving. Suzuki has been living up to its new them of “shaping the inspiration’ by producing a compact 4×4 equipped with state of the art features and the latest technology. The iM-4’s light platform is designed to introduce the concept that it is possible to be light but rigid and improving fuel efficiency in the long run. On the outside, the car looks like a throwback to the earlier models, in particular the Suzuki SC 100 but that’s where the comparisons end. The 2016 iM-4 is a compact hybrid SUV.
Suzuki iM-4 2016 – Exterior and Interior Design
The iM-4 does not look like most SUVs on the market. It does not look rugged and at first glance you would wonder about the all-terrain performance that we all come to expect from an SUV. The exterior looks a lot like a modern version of the Kei model. The sides are more angular. The exterior design has modularizing functional components, which will make it easy for the manufacture to manufacture at a quicker rate or to weak the design to suit the rapidly changing car market.
It has all the standard dashboard dials and knobs. The leather-covered seats and synthetic materials used in the car might be off-putting until you switch it on and feel the engine purr. You quickly realize that what is important for iM-4 in making this crossover SUV is the engine. iM-4 is not trying to sell a car for its looks only but want to present a car that performs better than it looks. The manufacturer calls the engine the Boosterjet 1.0. Before you start to think that the car is somewhat faster and will zip through traffic like lightning you should know that Boosterjet refers to a turbocharged torque. Standard features that you can expect from the iM4 include the latest infotainment features, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, climate control features and touch screen display on the console.
Suzuki iM-4 2016 – Engine Specs
The iM-4 2016 has a 1.2 dual jet, 4-cylinder direct-turbo engine with the ability to put out 89 hp. The engine combines mild hybrid systems, which has a starter generator and a small lithium-ion battery. The engine has incredible fuel efficiency that is boosted further by a regenerative braking system. Transitioning between different road surfaces should be easy because of the robustness of the undercarriage as well as the superior breaking system. Driving a 2016 iM-4 should be easier and effortless.
Suzuki iM-4 2016 – Price and Release Date
The design and production of this car is already at an advanced stage. It is rumored that production began in the fourth quarter of this year, which means the car will be released in the first quarter of 2016. The price is expected to be in the region of $19,000.
